BP and Hertz to develop North American EV charging network
The oil major’s charging subsidiary will support Hertz’s growing EV fleet
BP has signed a memorandum of understanding with one of the world’s largest vehicle rental companies, Hertz, for the development of a network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in North America. The network will be powered by BP Pulse, formerly California-based fleet-charging and energy management firm Amply, which BP acquired in December last year. “This is a landmark moment. It shows the power of bringing together BP’s digital and operational capabilities with a partner like Hertz,” says Vic Shao, president of BP Pulse’s fleet division in the US and founder of Amply. “Together with its industry-leading electrification ambitions, we can change the future of electric rental cars.”
