Aker Carbon Capture eyes growth in Europe and US
Combination of investor pressure and rallying carbon prices drive interest in technology offered by pure-play carbon-capture company
Norway-based Aker Carbon Capture says interest in its technology has spiked on the back of rising carbon prices in Europe and pressure on industrial companies from investors demanding action on emissions. The pure-play carbon-capture company, spun off by Aker Solutions last year, is developing the world’s first carbon-capture plant at a cement facility for Norcem HeidelbergCement in Brevik, Norway. Other projects include a potential blue hydrogen plant at Aukra in western Norway. The company also sees signs of increased demand from continental Europe and is eyeing significant potential in the US gas-fired power generation sector as the Biden administration sets a new 2035 net-zero target.
