US sets out bold new emissions commitments ahead of Cop26

President Joe Biden has placed much of the burden of US emissions reductions in the energy transition firmly at the door of power generation with a commitment to make the sector carbon-neutral by 2035. The headline economy-wide target is to cut net greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52pc below 2005 levels by 2030.
