Tidal energy to feature in next UK auction
UK government ringfences £20mn/yr for tidal in upcoming renewable energy tender
The UK has announced it will allocate £20mn/yr ($26.6mn/yr) for tidal energy in its upcoming Round 4 contracts-for-difference (CfD) auction next month. The UK had previously announced a budget of £265mn/yr for renewable energy in its upcoming CfD auction, with £55mn allocated for “less established” technologies including tidal, wave and geothermal energy. Of this initial £55mn pot, £24mn had been ringfenced for floating offshore wind projects.
