Steps towards commercialisation for new fuel
Quadrise, the UK-based company developing a new fuel for shipping, refinery use and electricity generation, has signed an agreement which could lead to the first commercial applications for the fuel. Through a venture with Saudi Arabia’s Rafid Group, Quadrise is targeting the manufacture of the fuel in a Saudi Aramco refinery, initially for use in the refinery but later for electricity generation in Saudi Arabia. Quadrise is to set up a 70:30 venture with Rafid, an energy-related construction and services company, to pursue agreements with Saudi Aramco under which the new fuel – refinery heavy-residues emulsified with water – will be produced in the country.
