Legislation provides finance for charging stations and transmission lines

The Biden administration’s  $1.2tn bipartisan infrastructure bill will provide finance for the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as well as the transmission lines required to power those stations effectively. Some $5bn will be available to help states build such stations along highways, while another $2.5bn will be invested in grid upgrades. The infrastructure bill smooths permitting and siting for new transmission lines at the federal level, creates a loan facility to help investors build new lines until demand arises and provides several billion dollars for smart grid capabilities such as software to help existing lines work better. As well as helping with EV uptake,
