TotalEnergies aims to develop US offshore wind on both coasts
Following a successful bid in a New York auction, the major has bought bidding partner EnBW’s North American portfolio
TotalEnergies has bought German utility EnBW’s stake in the two companies’ North American offshore wind joint venture (JV), Attentive Energy, after winning the right to develop acreage off the coast of New York. The New York Bight auction leased six blocks, totalling nearly 1,975km², for potential wind development. The lease sale is the first of seven to be held by 2025 that were announced by the Department of the Interior last year as part of the Biden administration’s effort to develop 30GW of offshore wind by 2030.
