The Philippines is seeking to build the necessary infrastructure to increase gas-fired power generation even as its domestic gas production declines. Two LNG regasification projects have reached development milestones recently, while three others are in development. And at least one consortium is looking at a potential sixth terminal. The Philippine Department of Energy granted the Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila (AG&P)—which is part owned by Japan’s Osaka Gas and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation—notice to proceed in early March with its import and regasification terminal at Batangas Bay in Luzon.
