Woodside signs Atlantic basin LNG deals
The Australian firm is extending its role as a portfolio player
Australia’s Woodside Energy has signed a SPA to buy up to 2.5mn t/yr of LNG from Texas-headquartered Commonwealth LNG’s liquefaction development near Cameron, Louisiana. The SPAs are for 20 years and shipments are expected to start in mid-2026, when the 8.4mn t/yr facility is due to begin commercial operations. The modular liquefaction development, located on the Calcasieu Ship Channel, will include six 50,000m³ storage tanks. Woodside is better known as an LNG operator and developer in the Pacific region, although it already has one deal in place to buy LNG from project developer Cheniere in Texas.
