Delta sees LNG-to-power back on track in Vietnam
The company remains bullish despite last year’s LNG sector upheaval
Delta Energy is a private sector company from Vietnam and is developing the country’s first independent LNG-to-power project at Bac Lieu, comprising a 3.2GW power station and associated regasification terminal. Managing director Ian Nguyen spoke to Petroleum Economist about the project, the impact of LNG market volatility and doing business in Vietnam. Nguyen confirmed the company still expects to break ground in 2024, “assuming we can sign the [power-purchase agreement: PPA] in 2023”. Work will start on both the LNG terminal, pipeline and power plant, with the first two to be commissioned before the first 800MW unit is operational.
