Lifting President Biden’s pause on issuing LNG export permits to non–free-trade-agreement countries will be crucial for both the US gas industry and European energy security. Doing so would strengthen the US' reputation as a dependable supplier and ensure LNG remains a significant source of government revenue and employment opportunities. The US was the world's leading exporter of LNG in 2023, with volumes up 15% from the previous year, according to market data provider LSEG Data and Analytics. Exports saw a notable increase of 9.5% in December 2023 compared with the previous month and a rise of 24.5% year-on-year. Europe recorded the lowest average price for US LNG exports, averaging $6.62/
