Denmark to become net gas exporter after Tyra restart
The country’s largest gas field is a bright spot for the North Sea, boasting cleaner operations amid a changing mood in Europe over hydrocarbons
French major TotalEnergies announced the resumption of gas production from Tyra, Denmark’s largest gas field, in mid-March. The milestone comes more than four-and-a-half years after production was halted at the North Sea project due to a sinking seabed following more than three decades of operation. With Tyra's redevelopment, Denmark will not only achieve self-sufficiency but also become a net exporter of gas to the rest of Europe. The redevelopment of Tyra was carried out by a consortium of TotalEnergies (operator, 43.2%), Norway’s BlueNord (36.8%), and Danish state-owned Nordsofonden (20%). It is expected to deliver 2.8bcm/yr of gas, amounting to 80% of forecast Danish gas production. The
