Janet Howard, Fasken

Janet is a regional leader of Fasken’s global energy and climate group and co-founder of the firm’s hydrogen energy advisory team. She has a corporate transactional practice with a specialised focus in the areas of renewable energy and natural resources. Janet has recently assisted SK ecoplant with its investment in World Energy GH2 Inc.’s Project Nujio’qonik in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador and Hydrogen Optimized Inc. with its strategic investment by ABB Switzerland Ltd. and the associated ramping of its electrolyser manufacturing operations in Owen Sound, Ontario.

Farzana Khambatta, Worley

Farzana is a seasoned engineer and senior management consultant with over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Always looking to expand her skill set, she seamlessly transitioned from a senior flow assurance engineer to a senior consultant position within the Advisian advisory team where she gained experience in the ever-growing hydrogen industry. She is currently involved in change management as a project engineer for Worley. She has also played a key role in setting up or supporting associations for women in the energy industry, such as Women in Subsea and Energy (WISE), Women in Worley and was also part of the Worley Future Engineers Program in 2023 as well as was recognised as a Women In Hydrogen 50 Rising Star in 2022.

Madadh Maclaine, Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association

Madadh MacLaine is a visionary social entrepreneur working in sustainability within the maritime sector. She is the founder/CEO of Zero Emissions Maritime Technology Ltd (ZEM-Tech) and founder/secretary-general of the Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs) which holds consultative status at the UN body the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). Madadh is a strong voice for the uptake of hydrogen as a maritime fuel, working on industrial projects, as well as standards and regulations at the IMO. Madadh has been working in zero-emissions shipping since she began designs for a ZE multi-access cargo ship in 2000. She has a background in hydrogen water electrolysis, ports and maritime systems, having represented ITM Power, plc, in the maritime industry.

Nawal Alhanaee, UAE ministry of energy and infrastructure

Nawal serves as the director of the future energy department at the UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. In this role, she has been instrumental in developing a comprehensive national blueprint aimed at bolstering domestic, low-carbon industries. These industries play a crucial role in realising the UAE's ambitious goal of achieving net zero emissions, while simultaneously positioning the country as a global leader in hydrogen production. She has spearheaded multiple national projects focused on advancing the hydrogen sector. Notably, she led the successful launch of the Hydrogen Leadership Roadmap, a milestone announcement made at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow. Furthermore, she is at the forefront of the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050, a strategic long-term plan designed to propel the UAE into a position of global leadership in hydrogen production by 2031.

Katherine Maria Orozco Quintero, Independent 

Katherine Orozco was most recently senior new business developer for Colombia's Ecopetrol. She led the company's first two industrial-scale 60MW green hydrogen projects with FID expected in 2024 and 1 blue hydrogen project of 195,000t/yr for refineries. Additionally she is leading on the first hydrogen buses and refuelling infrastructure in Bogota. Katherine mobilised different areas of Ecopetrol Group to include green hydrogen in its operations and go a step further to start pilot projects producing ammonia, e-fuels and methanol from 2025.

Abimbola Susan Ajagun, Tekinologi, Nigeria

Abimbola, an electrical engineer and lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, is a passionate advocate for clean energy. She founded the Females in Clean Energy (FiCE) Foundation, focused on sustainable energy solutions and women's empowerment. Abimbola's impactful research includes projects like the Artificial Intelligence in Clean Energy grant and the Advanced COVID-19 Market Place Robot (CMPR). She actively engages in IEEE committees and offers her expertise as a renewable energy consultant, working towards green hydrogen initiatives in Africa.
